André Mama Fouda and Michael Steven Hoza met to discuss the strengthening of medical cooperation on September 11, 2014, in Yaounde. The Minister of Public Health, André Mama Fouda, granted audience to the new Ambassador of the United States of America (USA) to Cameroon, Michael Steven Hoza on Thursday September 11, 2014 in his cabinet.
Speaking to journalists after the audience that held behind closed doors, the diplomat said the visit was in line with the partnership between the USA and Cameroon. He said discussions with the Health Minister centred on the partnership between his country and Cameroon in the domain of health.
Michael Steven Hoza also said he and the André Mama Fouda agreed that the most important resources of a country are its people and the most important thing they can do to the people is to take care of their health.
His said this partnership in medical affairs with the Cameroonian people has been a very strong part of the relationship between the two countries for many years.
As an example, he said the Director of the American Centre for Disease Control (CDC) has been in Cameroon working closely with the Ministry of Public Health in different programmes notably fighting HIV/AIDS, malaria and being prepared to do with any incidence of Ebola.
