Henriette Ekwé defends Jeune Afrique, applauds Ahidjo

Journalist and nationalist militants noted that Paul Biya has not imitated Ahmadou Ahidjo, who left many important posts to young professionals.

Journalist and nationalist activist Henriette Ekwé invited herself in the controversy triggered by a weekly section that Jeune Afrique devoted this week to the Cameroonian youth problems.

While the Cameroonian press considers the Pan African newspaper whom it accuses of wanting to destabilize Cameroon, the icon for the struggle for independence of the country considered that the Tunisian Bechir Ben Yahmed's weekly only told the truth.

She accused Paul Biya of not copying the example of his predecessor, Ahmadou Ahidjo. During her morning column of 16 December on Equinoxe television, the sexagenarian welcomed the 'learned determination between the young and the old carried out by the first president of Cameroon. She noted 'the old passed their experience and expertise so that all will benefit from maximum knowledge and expertise to advance their countries'.

She deplored the "delay" blamed by Paul Biya in the juvenation of the Group of executives in the nation.

For the winner of the award for female courage in 2011, the young guard that surrounded Ahmadou Ahidjo is an example of integrity. "Nobody has had illicit enrichment. They tried to make the state what they have learned in school, to make the State the strength of their youth", she noted in admiration, before noting, certainly for Paul Biya, that "putting in place a youth Government was not dishonourable. On the contrary, it was very proud".
