The entrances to most universities are crowded with hawkers selling stationery at give-away prices to the joy of many new students (freshmen).

Food vendors are also making exploits as they meet the needs of those who are hungry after the day's activities on campus.

As for those involved in the photocopy business, it is time for much profit as they run copies of timetables and other documents for students.

In the meantime, banks downown are receiving more clients especially university students who queue up to pay their school fees or withdraw money.

Over in student residential areas, gas cylinders, cookers, crockery and household equipment are on sale at major junctions.

The spring up of makeshift businesses at areas frequented by university students seems to be an indication that the new school year has effectively kicked off for them.
