57-year old hunter, Gaspard Dao, could not control his wrath when he learnt his wife and neighbour’s dog made away with two of the five ‘bush meat’ including three monkeys he spent sleepless night hunting.

According to a reliable informant at the Non Glacé neighbourhood, the ace hunter returned from hunting on Friday, August 1 with five animals, handed the booty to his son to skin and smoke in order to sell the next day (Saturday, August 2). The hunter returned to the forest hoping to hunt more animals.

Even as he returned at 5:00 am on Saturday without a rat mole, which is quite easy to hunt, he knew he will find solace in the five ‘bush meat’ he hunted the previous day.

To his greatest disappointment, he met just three of the five animals. When asked the whereabouts of the rest, the son said his mother sold one and used the money for her ‘Njangi’, and the neighbour’s dog stole and devoured another.

Driven by anger, the onetime truck driver gunned down the dog, set his wife’s kitchen on fire and left for the forest.

Thanks to neighbours’ intervention, the fire did not extend to the main house. While the hunter is yet to resurface, the wife’s family has deposited a complaint at the 8th District Police Station and investigations opened.
