Ibrahima Hamadou dies in detention

Indeed, Ibrahima Hamadou, 28 years old, died in his cell after hitting himself several times against a pillar supporting the wall in his cell. His fellow inmates allegedly told investigators that the accused was on narcotic drug "Tramol", was attempting suicide.

This information was disregarded by the family of the deceased, who claimed that he died following police torture. According to a family member who requested anonymity, the accused complained to them that he was physically and morally tortured in jail.

Because of this the family refused to claim until a medical examination has been conducted on the body. But after listening to the reports of fellow in mates of the deceased, the family finally agreed to carry the body immediately for burial according to Muslim tradition.

Arrested by the Office of the Commissioner of the 3rd arrondissement, Ibrahima Hamadou was part of a gang of burglars who caused so much terror in the Djamboutou district. These thugs were specialized in the robbery of the homes. Four complaints were filed against them before their arrest.
