Information Technology (IT) solutions have been rapidly developing over the last decade. The need to save data and improve communication has increased the need for broadband or wireless solutions. One of the companies in the sector, the Chinese Huawei edified local entrepreneurs on the most advanced solutions that can help their communications problems, such as voice communication (trunking), group surveillance and communication.
The world's first broadband networks is now available in Cameroon, affordable and it will be as critical to social and economic prosperity as networks like transport, water and power. A World Bank research indicates that a 10% increase in broadband penetration brings a 1.38% increase in GDP in low and middle-income countries. In terms of employment, one broadband job will bring 2.5 to 4 additional jobs, says the research.
At the Akwa Palace, where a workshop on the latest technology took place on September 17, 2013, company staff from public and private sector, appropriated the use of the equipment in their outfits. Huawei representatives in Douala presented the most advanced solutions that can help overcome the communications problems: voice communication (trunking), group surveillance and communication based on Long Term Evolution (LTE) or Fourth Generation (4G) Communication System.
The 4G technology presented at the workshop differ from the previous one in that besides the voice, it offers other advantages like video, messages, saves information and pictures, etc. With e-LTE Huawei solution, to Allen Lu, Sales Manager, the command centre can send the police, fire fighter and medical personnel to respond to emergencies through shared voice service, at the same time, staff can send video to the command center, command center forwards the video to all members associated with the group, in order that they can actually see the problem.
The tool not only improves operational efficiency, but also save lives. Since 2005, the outfit has worked on projects like the wireless fixed phone (CT Phone), fibre cables and has provided equipment to the two mobile telecommunication companies to improve on the communication system.
