Informal sector invited to subscribe for old-age Pension

An awareness campaign for pension scheme for the informal sector was launched on Wednesday at CNPS. Actors in the informal economy such as taxi drivers, call-boxers, workers of the liberal professions (lawyers, pharmacists, etc.), bayam-sellam stormed the room of the conferences of the National Fund of social security (CNPS) Wednesday in Yaounde.

It was on the occasion of the launch of the information and awareness campaign on the subscription to the voluntary insurance for old age pensions. The operation was launched by the Director-general of the CNPS, Noël Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame.

Jacques Assomo, employer, was present so as to know how to register his employees, "I listened to the announcement of this new offer of CNPS on radio and I was interested to know how to subscribe for my staff and myself ", explained a man of about thirty years.

"Insurance is open to persons with a contributory capacity with a minimum wage (minimum wage inter guaranteed) not less than 37,000 F", explained Noël Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame. For those who voluntarily subscribe, 7% will be charged monthly on the declared amount.

And the wage ceiling stands at 300,000 F. Marie Mballa Biloa, President of the Association of the Yaoundé sellam bayam (Asby), indicated that this initiative is commendable and should encourage young people to make their arrangements now.

Noël Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame indicated that from November 1, subscriptions will start in all 33 structures of the CNPS across the country. "They will receive and deal with the usual care, anyone wishing to join the voluntary insurance records", he assured.
