Several localities in the Cameroonian departments of Logone and Chari, the Mayo-Tsanaga and Mayo-Sava (Extreme North), that share border with Nigeria, were compelledto leave their home by the defense forces in anticipation of an attack from Islamist sect Boko Haram.
The dislodged are temporarily resettled in schools in Mora and the capital of the region, Maroua, where they are supervised by the army and the administrative authorities providing them assistance and protection.
This move according to local sources occured when the Cameroonian armed forces suffered and repelled several Boko Haram attacks since the beginning of the week in Achigacha and Kerawa. At the same time, Garkara and Fotokol, close to the Nigerian cities of Gambaru and Ngala, remained under the control of the attackers.
It was also the opportunity, for the national Council of traditional leaders in Cameroon (NCACT), to adapt the position of the imams and local Muslim dignitaries, which condemn and denounce actions of Boko Haram, which is considered, contrary to the Islam religion of peace and tolerance.
