One month after the passage of the African synergies team in Maroua, families of recipient patients have greatly expressed their joy.
"Thank you first lady” are the words from Fadounwa, mother of a one year and a half years old child who went through a face surgery. For her, it was impossible to believe that her son would one day have a beautiful face.
“It was my sister who told me about this operation because she had gone through the same process in Garoua. Today, I am proud that my son has arranged lips and now he can eat without discomfort and this gladdens my heart," says the young mother.
The joy that floods Fadounwa and his son at this moment is also that of dozens other patients from the confines of the region of the far north who benefited from the works of African Synergies and other partners.
This campaign in Maroua follows the success experienced by this sane team June 2013 in Garoua. African synergies, where Chantal Biya, first lady of Cameroon is the founding Chair, wished to give smile to those who had lost the zest for life as they are for the vast majority rejected by their community because of their deformity.
Every effort was made to move a strong team of surgeons consisting of Cameroonian and Chadian professionals. For officials of the regional hospital in Maroua, the American NGO "Smile Train" and the humanitarian association "We Care Foundation" assisted by African Synergies did a good job.
