Insecurity in the East: seven hostages released by the army

Seven of the 18 hostages seized in Garoua-Boulai in the East Region have been released. They were released by the army deployed in the region.

The search for the eleven others is actively going on and the Ministry of Defence is assuring the population that the abducted shall be released.

The unfortunate incident took place on the Night of the 1st breaking 2nd May 2014. A convoy of four cars was attacked along the Bertoua-Garoua Boulai stretch, an area which is just three kilometres from the Central African Republic.

The army which has been deployed in the area to protect the population went on a rampage and secured the release of seven of the 18 hostages.

The assailants, according to the Governor of the East Region, Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua operate as highway robbers. If one should go by the telephone calls from the group; they are requesting the release of one of their leaders who purportedly, is in detention in Cameroon.
