Police inspector Guy Ango, his wife, his daughter and two nieces got involved in a car accident Sunday on the Douala-Yaoundé road. Christian Ango, 15 years and Fidèle Foumane, 38 years old, were the only survivors of the terrible road accident which occurred recently at Ngwei, 5 km before Pour from Yaoundé.

According to information provided by a police source on Wednesday to Cameroon Tribune, five people were killed in the accident. 2nd grade Inspector Guy Charles Ango, his wife, Sylvie Michèle Mendouga, daughter Marie-Charlie Eyenga Mvondo (17 years old), and his two nieces, Marie Mbende Sango and Wenty Ntyame (ages 8 and 4) all died in the crash.

In-service at the 7th District commissariat in Douala, the recently promoted Chief Inspector had gone to attend the funeral of his late grandfather in his village in Zoétélé. From information given by his superiors, Chief Superintendent Cyrille Amogo Manga, and the mobile road platoon of Edea, a tree fell on the road and obstructed 60% of the roadway. As a result motorists were obliged to share the end of the remaining track.

The car, Ford Cha 70291 carrying the police officer and his family tried to circumvent this tree when they met face to face with a trailer registered LTTR 820AF and its coupling LTSR022AD driven by Jean-Pierre Njipounemoung.

To avoid a collision, the driver attempted an acceleration, which went without success, the car was hit on the side and was projected. The remains of deceased were deposited at the mortuary of the place.
