The D-day is 1st May 2015 for the commemoration of the 129th edition of the International Labour Day that shall be highlighted by march-pasts before the traditional winning and dinning.

Prior to the day, some institutions have for the past one week been involved in a number of commemorative activities including conferences, debates and outdoor events.

Such is the case of the Ministry of Livestock Fisheries and Animal Industries where members of staff are taking part in sporting activities this 30th April 2015.

At the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), the National Trade Union for Communicators and Media Personnel (SYNATRACOMEC) organised a conference to discuss issues pertaining to the rights of workers.

In the nation’s capital, Yaounde, the attention this 1st May 2015 shall be at the May 20 Boulevard where the staff of public and private institutions including trade unions shall march.

This year’s event is being celebrated under the theme “Construct the Future of Cameroon in Peace, Solidarity and Decent Work.”

The International Labour Day was instituted in the early 1880’s by labourers who demanded better working conditions. Labour Day is also referred to as International Workers Day or May Day.
