Cameroonians have joined the international community to celebrate the International Youth Day this 12th August 2015.

Commemorative activities are taking place nationwide under the theme “Youth Civic Engagement”.

During a ceremony to mark the day in Yaounde, the Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Bidoung Mkpatt called on the youth to rally behind the forces of defence.

Accordingly, close to 100 youths donated blood to wounded soldiers at the Yaounde Military Hospital.

The President of Junior Chambers International (JCI), explained that donating blood to the soldiers is part of civic engagement because they were injured while defending the nation.

With that in mind, the youth flooded the hospital premises, doing the necessary preliminary check-ups and donating blood, a sign of patriotism.

The International Youth Day was first observed in 1999. It is a day set aside to bring youths’ issues on the international spotlight and seek solutions to their problems.
