Apparently still unable to digest the abject performances of the Indomitable Lions in Brazil, street children, hawkers as well as an irate population on Wednesday pounced on Stephan Mbia and Benjamin Moukandjo who just returned from Brazil as they passed by Avenue Kenedy in Yaounde. The players were assaulted on separate occasions.
Mbia who was the first to face the tough music was assaulted and battered and his vehicle impounded. Few minutes later fellow teammate Benjamin Moukandjo who came passing through same avenue was given a similar treatment.
“Right now I am at Avenue Kenedy in Yaounde. Benjamin Moukandjo is in this car. And the mob here wants to attack him. A few minutes ago, Stephan Mbia passed here and was kidnapped for about 25 minutes. The BIR was a few meters away, and refused to intervene,” recounted an eye witness.
