The joint summit of heads of state and government of member countries of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC) and those of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), earlier scheduled to take place on Wednesday in Malabo, the Equatorial Guinean capital on the Nigeria-based terror sect Boko Haram, has been moved to an unspecified date, sources confirmed Tuesday April 7,2015.

According to the sources, the postponement was to allow the new president-elect of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari to attend the meeting.

Buhari, who is due to be sworn in on May 29, promised during his election campaign to wage a tireless war on Boko Haram that has already claimed responsibility for mass killings targeting both civilians and security forces.

During a recent ECCAS meeting held in Yaoundé (Cameroon), the heads of state of the Central African bloc had decided to provide CFA 50 billion francs in a move to back the two countries of the regional organization (Cameroon and Chad) engaged in the fight against the extremist sect.
