Joseph Wilson Otto appointed Centre Region Governor

The new Governor of the Centre Region, Joseph Wilson Otto was last Friday, June 20, commissioned into office. Governor Otto, who was the Governor of the North Region, by a presidential decree was transferred to the Centre Region.

During the commissioning that took place at the Yaoundé City Council, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, reminded him of the strategic nature of the region he was taking over.

He told him that the Centre Region was the seat of diplomatic missions represented in the country. He said the new Governor shoulders the responsibility of ensuring the security of the over 3.5 million people of the region as well as guarantee the safety of their property.

Also, the Minister urged Otto to fight against criminality and follow-up the execution of some priority projects in the region and fight against urban disorder in collaboration with the Yaoundé City Council.

Governor Otto is also expected to facilitate the promotion of second generation agriculture as well as the execution of projects like the Yaounde-Nsilmalen dual carriageway and other infrastructural projects.

Joseph Wilson Otto, who is 50 years old hails from Ndian Division of the South West Region. He takes over from Governor Roger Moise Eyene Nlom who goes on retirement after serving in the Centre Region for four years.
