Joseph Zambo: Former Minister of state, laid to rest

The remains of one-time Minister of state, Joseph Zambo, has been laid to rest in his village at Ngoulemakong in the South Region.

He died on November 10, 2015, due to an illness.

The remains were removed on Friday, December 4, 2015, from the Yaounde General Hospital Mortuary to the Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Yaounde for a Funeral mass. Thereafter, to his village at Ngoulemakong in the South Region.

The Funeral ceremony was attended by the locals, priests, statesmen and women including President Biya’s representative – the South Regional Governor- Felix Nguele Nguele who extended President Biya’s condolences and honoured the deceased with a medal.

Tributes from friends, relatives, and colleagues summed the late statesman as one of uncommon integrity, generosity, friend to the church and the community.

Born in 1935 at Ngoulemakong the South Region, Mr. Joseph Zambo, after his academic pursuit, in 1966, rose from one administrative rank to the other.

Remarkable among the positions held were: Secretary General at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet 1969, Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, 1984-1985, Director General and Board Chair of over six Government parastatal.

He was a widower and father of five daughters with 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
