Judges snub human rights report on Cameroon

Cameroon still has to intensify efforts in its respect for human rights, according to a statement from the National Commission for the rights of man and freedoms (Cndhl) which focused on a few recommendations for the Government.

This organisation recently decided to assert its credibility both nationally and internationally. Each year, the National Commission for the rights of man and freedoms (Cndhl) release its reports on activities and on the State of the human rights in Cameroon. It is based on this exercise that it delivered a statement on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Congress Hall in Yaoundé.

The various reports, for the account of the year 2013 were made public in the presence of members of Government, diplomats, development partners, the administrative and judicial authorities, various officials of public to semi-public administrations, associations and organizations working in the field of human rights and journalism.

Several infringement cases in the year 2013 were noted in the report on the State of human rights in Cameroon. Among these are the non-implementation of the decisions of justice and failure to comply with international commitments.

As per the remark of the Cndhl, "it is useless to obtain a decision of justice if it can be executed. Fair trial and the right to judicial remedy control the effective repair of the injury suffered by the victim prior to the impugned violation.
