The Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai has called on members of the South West Regional organising committee for the forthcoming reunification celebrations, to make sure their projects are completed and submitted by June 15.

During an evaluation meeting on May 29, 2013 the governor said it was one of the last committee meetings to take place before that of elite and the visit of ministers and the Director of Civil Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic.

During the meeting, the governor said so far, only the grand stand is ready. The Head of State's residence will be ready by mid-June. He instructed that all offices must be painted. In a report, the Regional Delegate of Urban Development, Oben Francis said they had 12 road projects and he has organised 10 packing lots. The two companies handling the contracts, Chariot Company have done 46.5 percent of work while Arab Contractors have done 44.9 per cent. Oben Francis noted that they have exceeded the time slated to finish their projects because of the displacement of some network connections by AES-SONEL and CAMTEL along certain parts of the roads. The Delegate of Urban Development added that the road at Federal Quarters could not be constructed because occupants have built houses on the road.

The Regional Delegate of Public Works said he had three road projects which have progressed and stopped for lack of supplies. The person in charge of energy said in a week's time the streetlights, lighting through solar energy will be ready from the grand stand to the police junction. But he noted that finances were blocking the lighting of the street from Mile 17 up to Buea. 8000 cubic meters of water up from 4000 are being supplied in the town now. It was however revealed that the catchment in Small Soppo will add 120 cubic meters.

The construction of the Reunification Monument has not started but the Amphi Theatre construction will begin by the end of the week, the Delegate of Culture said.
