The group believed to be Boko Haram that attacked the residence of the Deputy Prime Minister continues raising the stakes.

In total, 1.8 billion Cfa francs is being demanded by the hostage-takers from the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Relations with Parliament, Amadou Ali, for the release of the 9 Kolofata captives including his wife.

This according to Calculations makes 200 million Cfa francs per hostage. These requirements according to local sources introduced, were transmitted to him a few days through the usual networks of procurers. According to the same sources, the kidnappers spoke of 'non-negotiable conditions', adding to the demand made that Amadou Ali to resign from the Government.

At this juncture, the Deputy PM is faced with firm and difficult demands. "They claim that Amadou Ali is a billionaire, one of the richest men in the Extrême-Nord."

Obviously, a crime industry has been born in the North, created and maintained with the aim of collecting huge ransoms in exchange for hostages.
