The greater majority of voters polled before 12 noon.
The population of Kousseri in particular and Logone and Chari in general woke up yesterday September 30 to an election fever. As early as 8.a.m, when the polling stations flung open, anxious voters were already hovering around with their electoral cards in hand to check their names on electoral register and exercise their civic duty.
By 10 a.m. when the newly installed Senior Divisional Officer, Mekondane Obounpou Albert dropped his electoral envelops into the two transparent boxes at one of the the Kousseri Town Council, all the 112 polling stations were already in peak form with commission members directing voters on voting procedures.
After casting his vote, the SDO stated inter alia that everything was moving well at the moment he fulfilled his civic duty. "The two political parties competition in Logone and Chari have so far exercised good comportment", he told Cameroon Tribune. "We have made a tour of all the Subdivisions and there has been no abnormal signal as the population is voting under exemplary discipline", Mekondane Obounpou stated.
There was total satisfaction on the faces of the two members of government who equally voted in Kousseri. "We have no fear as to the fact that our party will come out victorious, since we know Logone and Chari is the stronghold of the CPDM", Minister Adoum Gargoum, President of the campaign commission for the CPDM for the Division told CT after casting his vote.
The Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey who voted at the Kousseri Town Council was particularly satisfied at the milestone Cameroon has covered in its democratic process. Voting took place under the watchful eyes of observers from five civil society groups.
