The construction of the Kumba-Mamfe road will begin next year (2013). The State of Cameroon has secured funds from the African Development Bank and BCDEAO. Accompanying social amenities to be created along the road will include six markets and three welfare centres. These were the awaited and applauded announcements made by the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, 24 August in Buea, while he stopped-over in his nationwide sensitisation tour to present the mechanisms for identifying, planning, and budgeting development projects.

Nganou Djoumessi told the Mayors, politicians, elite, traditional rulers and administrators present at the CNPS hall in Buea, Friday evening that he was returning to Yaounde with three major worries from the South West namely: poor roads, poor execution and abandoned public contracts, and a failing rural electrification. The Minister, however, said "We have received your various Council Development Plans (CDPs) and our role will be to programme them for the coming three-year plan." To improve the socio-economic infrastructure in the South West Region, a total of 158 micro projects in 25 Councils for which the National Community Development Driven Programme (PNDP) has set aside FCFA 1.5 billion will be executed in the following three years.

In the educational sector, 60 classrooms, 900 desks and 40 blocks of latrine will benefit some 1,800 pupils and students. In the water supply area 44 stand taps will be installed to serve and additional 13,200 people. Meanwhile, 5,986 additional people will gain from the rural electrification. training programmes. Nganou Djoumessi urged the people to continue to denounce any poor execution of public contracts saying it is also considered as embezzlement of State funds. He explained that "there are many needs but limited resources so we have to agree on our priorities."
