Debates were closed Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the special criminal court (CHT) in what is now known as the Lydienne Eyoum case.

Counsel continued in co-action with Polycarpe Abah Abah, former Finance Minister and Me Baleng Maah, bailiff, for the misappropriation of 1.07 billion F CFA. They will be fixed on their fate on September 11, 2014.

However, Polycarpe Abah Abah lawyers pleaded the innocence of their client explaining that the Minister had asked Lydienne Eyoum to repay all of the money in the State coffers.

Responsibility for retention of half of this money would be to, according to these lawyers, former delegate Minister for finance in charge of the Budget, Henri Engoulou who unfortunately is of blessed memory.

In this case, all the accused declared themselves innocent, as in most trials for misappropriation of public funds.

Lydienne Eyoum has already used several voices in order to be heard, including those of french lawyers Me Christian Charrière-Bournazel and Me Caroline Wassermann who sent a letter to Pope Francis for her release.

One of her Cameroonian lawyers, Mr. Yondo Black even sent a letter to the president of the Republic, Paul Biya for her release. The final will be decided on 11 September.
