Laquintinie tragedy: Brenda Biya told Dad

Monique died alongside her twins and the images of her lifeless body slit by an inexperienced relative in a frantic attempt to save the lives of the babies in the dead mother’s womb continue to go viral on Facebook.

It has triggered feelings of compassion and deep grief in the heart of any right thinking person, Cameroonian or not! And the presidential couple is also said to be disgusted by the sight of Monique’s mortal remains on the bare floor of Cameroon’s Douala Laquintini hospital.

A reliable source tells us president Biya is very angry as foreign media organizations have carried the story (Monique tragedy)…we’re told heads are about to roll! How did he find out about the tragedy? Brenda, his daughter!!!

We’re told the youngster who is very active on social media immediately informed her parents away in Europe, of what she’d seen. And the president expressed his dissatisfaction and were seeking answers! ( and one can begin to understand the health Minister Andre Mama Fouda’s Sunday statement, and his attempts to exonerate his department from any responsibility despite the fresh controversy this Crisis communication has sparked).

The Prime Minister Philemon Yang, we’re told received immediate instructions to get to the bottom of this which is not so unique ( only 2 months ago a medical doctor had died in similar circumstances when her colleagues allegedly refused to attend to her due to her incapacity to produce a down payment of FCFA 300,000 for treatment in the wee hours of the morning when she arrived with a worrisome pregnancy).

Biya is set to host Italian President in Yaounde on March 17 after returning from a private stay in Europe this Monday. Expectations for the head of state to sanction officials of the Laquintini hospital and his public health minister are high….( wonder who is responsible for a health system that has fallen to its knees..).
