Exchange Programs Announcement

The Public Affairs Section of the U. S. Embassy in Cameroon is seeking qualified candidates for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship and J.W. Fulbright programs for the 2015/2016 academic year. Preliminary applications for these scholarships are available on U.S. Embassy website at http://yaounde.usembassy.gov. Completed applications must be sent electronically to ExchangesYaounde@state.gov no later than 12:30 on February 28, 2014. Candidates for Fulbright student program and Humphrey program must attach a copy of four -year Bachelor's Degree diploma, licence or equivalent and a Master's Degree depending on the degree objective. Do not attach transcripts and letters of reference.
The Humphrey Fellowship is a non-degree program that brings outstanding mid-career professionals from developing countries to the U. S. for a year of professional development and academic work. Grants are available in: agriculture and rural development, communications/journalism, substance abuse education, treatment, and prevention; economic development/ finance and banking, education administration, planning, and policy; HIV/AIDS policy and prevention, human resource management law; human rights, natural resources, environmental policy, and climate change; public health policy and management, public policy analysis and public administration, teaching of English as a foreign language, technology policy and management; trafficking in persons policy and management, and urban and regional planning. Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree, five years professional experience, demonstrated leadership qualities and a record of public service, and proficiency in English. The Embassy will consider highly qualified candidates with moderate English Language skills. Such candidates would be required to take four to nine months of intensive English training prior to the start of the fellowship if selected.
The Fulbright African program has three categories: African Research Scholar program, Junior Staff Development program, and the Junior Staff Enhancement program for Francophones.
The African Research Scholar program awards grants to scholars to conduct post-doctoral research at U.S. institutions. Applicants must have a doctoral degree, three years of university teaching experience, and be fluent in English.
The Junior Staff development program is reserved for applicants seeking a Masters or Doctoral degree. It also offers training in a non-degree research and a non-academic program in culture. Fluency in English is required.
The Junior Staff development program for Francophones is offered to candidates qualified to pursue a Master's degree in the fields of economics, information sciences, political science, sciences excepting medical studies, public administration, and social sciences but lack adequate English language skills. Successful candidates undergo intensive English language training before they are enrolled into the program.
