The Cameroon military high command has placed soldiers stationed in the Extreme Nord Region of the country on high alert following intelligence gathered from the Borno State of Nigeria that the Islamic militant group Boko Haram is facing a leadership crisis within its ranks with members shooting themselves ever since Abubakar Shekau was killed.
A Cameroon military commander hinted Cameroon Concord that intense fighting erupted at Madagali in Adamawa State among Boko Haram insurgence over who should take over the leadership of the terrorist organization leading to the deaths of 35 militants.
Said the officer: "our Cameroonian agents there told us that some of the Boko Haram members are badly in need of a cease fire with advancing government forces".
There are reports that the remnants of the Boko Haram militants are causing havoc in places such as Madagali, Gulak, Shuwa and Michika.
Cameroon Concord learned that Boko Haram militants are cutting off fingers of innocent men and women including children and flogging what they term offenders.
The Cameroon army has made it clear that they will reply with a crushing response to any further Boko Haram incursion into Cameroon territory.
