Cameroon’s leading brewery, Les Brasseries du Cameroun, has handed over a Mercedes E200 car to Clotaire Ebolo Ayong, winner of the contest, “Tempête Sur La Ville” for the Centre Region.

The luxurious car was handed over during the official opening of the 2015 Christmas For All festival organised by Les Brasseries du Cameroun on December 16.

The event was presided at by the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, in the company of the General Manager of Les Brasseries du Cameroun, Francis Batista.

Ayong, a security guard at the University of Yaounde II Soa, who won the car in a “33” Export cork at the Success Bar at Mvog-Ada in Yaounde, received the car keys and documents from the Minister of Trade.

Apart from Ayong who drove home in the brand new Mercedes, other fervent consumers of the company’s products also took home millions of FCFA.

Gabriel Nodem, a businessman won FCFA 1 million after consuming “33” Export at Shallom Bar in Yaounde.

Another happy winner of FCFA 1 million was Delphin Joël Ngah Olama of Laborex Cameroun, who also got a winning “33” Export cork at the Crayon de Dieu Bar, Texaco Omnisport.

Michel Brahim Komsi, a trader, also got a winning cork after consuming Booster at Le Baron Bar in Melen, Yaounde.

The prizes were handed to the laureates by administrative authorities and officials of Les Brasseries du Cameroun.

In his welcome address, Francis Batista said it was a pride for him to address the huge crowd that had thronged the Ekie Stadium to witness the ceremony.

Wishing merry Christmas and New Year in advance to the population, Batista said the citizen-oriented company has been supporting different social, cultural and sporting activities in Cameroon for several years.

Batista disclosed that the 2015 edition of Christmas For All was placed under the Minister of Trade, aimed at bringing together customers to live the cultural, intellectual and sporting activities being promoted by Les Brasseries du Cameroun.

“This vast operation is not only meant for the population to interact around a global theme which is sharing, but it gives an opportunity for us to say thank you to our faithful consumers,” Batista said.

Christmas For All festival, he said, is going on in 11 towns in Cameroon.

During the event, Batista went on, fan clubs, the media, fanfares, humorists, associations, schools, university and traditional groupings would compete in various competitions and FCFA 47 million would be shared out as prizes to the various social groups.

The General Manager of Les Brasseries du Cameroun told the Minister that, as a citizen-oriented company with a permanent quest for satisfying its consumers and supporting the fight against expensive lifestyle, the company organised a contest called “Tempête Sur La Ville,” with winning corks of “33” Export, Amstel and Booster.

He said Cameroonians were compensated with more than 30 million prizes and that the company was changing the lives of four persons with three taking home FCFA 1 million each and a Mercedes E200 for another.

Batista pledged the company’s determination to accompany public authorities in their heavy task of training, valorising culture and the promotion of excellence.

According to the General Manager, such initiative has been on since 2008 by way of encouraging excellent performance in school through the attribution of scholarships to deserving pupils and students; and through the Top Cup that has for some 30 years been promoting talents in football through the prestigious Les Brasseries du Cameroon Football School.

Other moves include the Mutzig Star Festival to promote talents in young artists in the country and the “33” Export mark which is the Number One Supporter of Football in Cameroon.

Speaking at the occasion, Luc Magloire Atangana, expressed gratitude to Les Brasseries du Cameroun for involving all strata of the society in the Christmas For All festival.

He hailed the initiative to extend the operation to other localities of the country, remarking that, according to President Paul Biya, there are no Cameroonians of the first or second zones, but that all Cameroonians must be treated equally.

He added that this is the principle that goes with the campaign for the fight against expensive lifestyles, which does not only concern the Government, but all other stakeholders including Les Brasseries du Cameroun as a promoter, distributor and consumers’ protection associations.

The Minister said his presence at the event was to strengthen the already cordial relationship between the Government and Les Brasseries du Cameroun.

“The company is in total communion with all fabrics of the society; the young and the old inclusive. They are not only promoting their products, but equally promoting development in the country. I want to use this ceremony to extend the congratulations of Government to Les Brasseries du Cameroun,” the Minister stated.

Meanwhile, reacting to questions, the winner of the Mercedes E200, Ayong, narrated the circumstances under which he won after consuming his favourite drink, “33” Export.

He described the honour with which the Commercial Director received him at the premises of Les Brasseries du Cameroun in Yaounde.

Beaming with joy in the company of family members and friends who had thronged the ceremonial ground, Ayong said he had signed a pact with “33” Export.

“I want to inform all consumers of Les Brasseries du Cameroun products that the company is faithful and honest in all its dealings,” Ayong said, adding that before winning the car, he had won numerous free bottles of “33” Export in the course of the contest.
