Limbe indigens laud Mayor Rodanny Mbua

The people of Limbe seem to appreciate the efforts of their mayor. Opinions of some Limbe folks were sought and here's what they had to say.

Mola Magwery -As a staff of the Council, I want to say that the working conditions are not bad and we have a good interactive working relationship with the mayor. He calls meetings and makes follow up to ensure that assignments are done. He has been very instrumental in the sanitation of the town as he goes out and makes sure that the town is clean

His vision and ideas are clear - Martha (Graphics Designer) As concern our new mayor, Rodanny Mbua, he is very welcoming, socialble and relates well with all manner of people.

I like his developmental ideas and the way he has been organising things in Limbe I since he took over office from the Senator even before his own mandate. Since he is a very young man, his vision and ideas are very clear and precise with the possibility of delivering quick results as we can see in the town of Limbe today.

A uniting factor - Fonkwa Ngambu Augustine (Hawker) I have seen a lot of positive changes as the town is becoming cleaner every day, the interaction amongst people is more positive which shows that the mayor is a uniting factor.

I am however not happy with his recent decision to ask Call Box women to pay some money for occupying space in the town because they are barely managing to survive, apart from that I think for this one year I will rate him 8 over 10.

Better and brighter days ahead - Bessem Ashu Agbor (Pupil Barrister to be)

I can say Limbe has improved under the present Mayor so much that the changes are visible. On sanitation he has been very effective especially because we see him going down to the field urging people to partake in organised clean up exercises. He has also instructed his boys to be strict on stray animals and ensure that latrines exist in every homes. One year may be too small to evaluate him but I am sure with what he has done so far, there are better and brighter days ahead.

Impacted women, children and youth - Ndive Martin (Hawker) Limbe has taken a new dimension under the present Mayor; during their campaigns they made so many promises especially to students, women and the youth in general. From my personal observation and media reports I am happy with what has been done so far by the Mayor; the town is clean, Motorbike and Taxi drivers sector is well managed among other things. So for me in just one year, that is not bad.

Development should move towards the periphery - Nwana George Foba (Delegation of Public Contracts)

I think Mayor Rodanny Mbua is doing a good job because, recently my son was employed to do holiday job at the council, and when he came home he presented to me the money given to him from the council as his pay.

This is so wonderful that with the difficulties councils are facing, Mayor Rodanny could still convince his councillors to dish out money to students allowance for carrying out holiday job.

There are other improvements like the sanitation situation, the peace that is reigning and other infrastructural work he is engaged in. I have only one word for him; he should continue and that he should also go to the villages around Limbe and see that development does not end at the city centre by opening roads and providing potable water for the people.

He has been up to the task - Peter Parkers (Journalists LTM TV) Thank you very much, personally, Rodanny Mbua as a young man is the kind of Mayor that we were expecting after Pa Matute as we use to call him. He has simply fit in his predecessor’s shoes and he has been up to the task. As you can see for yourself, he has created the Mafany Market which has eased women from travelling long distances to shop.

The Mile four New Market is also under construction and the project for the school at GC Towe is near completion. The Mayor has created a partnership with the motor bike riders and it has brought order in the town.

He can be more successful - John Enongene (Civil Society) So far I would say I am impressed with his work within this one year in office, it is funny how time flies. We can see some of the developmental projects he has embarked on like the mile 2 market and a couple of culverts here and there to enhance poor state of our drainage systems .

He is trying to negotiate with people, talking with market women, making them to understand issues and need for orderly working condition and that the council is there just to work with the people. So far I give him a high rating and I expect that he brings the people more to himself so that people can share their needs and it would make him a very successful mayor.

His hands are tied - Babila Frederick (President Stand up Cameroon/ Politician) I am very sad and sorry to say that as a Mayor he does not have much to offer because his hands are tight by the Limbe City Council. Most of the projects to be executed are in the hands of the government delegate and this is what we have been decrying. We have been saying mayors should be given the power to execute major projects. The only think I know he did that made people feel his presence was when he was locking-up places in Limbe for people who were opened during the keep Limbe Clean campaigns, that was the only job I saw him did. The inter city roads which are supposed to be under the Mayor are completely bad and I wonder if he has the budget to these roads.

Matching words with action - (GERICH) Business Woman Last year during the installation of Mayor Rodanny, I remembered that I told you he will make a good mayor, I said I wanted continuity in the council and today there is continuity.

As a very close neighbour to the Limbe I Council, I have been very observant on the number of goodwill gestures he has been extending to people. The handicapped, Orphans, School Children, Farmers groups just to name a few.

I hear after the Mafany Market which is operational, work is going on in Mile Four New Market, I think as a woman this is a good start and we wish he continues in that spirit, slowly but surely to his completion point. He is matching his words with action.
