The association awarded scholarships to 100 street children in Douala.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Catherine Bakang Mbock, on Tuesday July 10 in Yaounde granted audience to a delegation from the Lions Club Douala.

Speaking during the occasion, the head of the delegation, Michèle Esso Ebongue said the purpose of the visit was to offer support to some 100 street children for the 2012-2013 academic year. She used the occasion to announce that Lions Club Douala has started a project called "Douala Paradise Education" and wants to concretize it by supporting street children.

Scholarships will be awarded to 100 former street children in Douala who were reunited with their families by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Out of the 100 scholarships, 50 will be awarded directly by the Lions Club Douala and the other 50 by partners of Lions Club Douala. On her part, Minister Catherine Bakang Mbock hailed the gesture and expressed the wish for a platform of collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Lions Club Douala.
