The MANIDEM political party plans to stage street demonstrations against the promulgation of a bill on antiterrorism in Cameroon. This was revealed at a press conference on December 17, 2014 in Douala.
“We shall organise the population in January 2015 to fight against the promulgation of the antiterrorism bill by President Paul Biya,” party officials said.
One-time chairman of MANIDEM, Anicet Ekane corroborated his comrades who tagged themselves to be terrorists. He said: “If President Biya promulgates this bill, it is obvious that he will meet us on the streets. He will be forced to shot at us.”
On his part, Dieudonne Yebga, current Chairman of MANIDEM argues that the government is preparing genocide in Cameroon. “We believe the government is preparing genocide in Cameroon, which would be covered by an antiterrorism law. They want to kill like in 2008 under the label of terrorism,” he said.
