The Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Dr. Taiga who doubles as the president of the steering committee of the livestock and fisheries Development project (LIFIDEF) has exhorted the managements of LIFIDEF and that of MINENO to redouble their efforts in accelerating rural development in the North West Region.

The exhortation was made during the maiden steering committee meeting of LIFIDEP in Bamenda recently.

He reminded the managements of LIFIDEP and MIDENO that the population of Bamenda is anxiously waiting to see LIFIDEP put smiles on their faces through meaningful development projects.

"we the steering committee members promise to facilitate your work through our constant and continuous collaboration and so we call upon you not to relent your efforts but progress with gratifying results."

Dr. Tiaga remarked that the North West Development Authority remains the nerve centre of the region as far as rural development is concern.

He said the mounting of LIFIDEP by the North West development Authority is proof of MIDENO’s rule as government over seer of rural development in the North West Region.

Three pertinent resolutions were arrived at by the steering committee which was chaired by Minister Tiaga himself.

The 2014 programme of activities and the budget were adopted with the frame work of the work plans prepared and tabled before the committee by the project management unit and the management of MIDENO was enjoined to ensure that follow-up of the recommendation is made especially on the budget to ensure that it is realised.

Above all, the steering committee encouraged the executing agency to strictly follow-up the project to ensure that the project management unit maintains the spirit and specificities of the financing agreement and loan conditionality.

The Livestock and Fisheries project has a life span of six years and will focus on the improvement of the Livestock and Fisheries production and productivity of the region, construction and rehabilitation of Livestock and Fisheries infrastructure, training or capacity building of Livestock and Fisheries farmers, gender and environmental issues and the empowerment through micro credit facilities of Livestock and Fisheries farmers.
