MINADER poised to oust plant-related diseases

The Minister of Agriculture, Essimi Menye has authorized the sale of sixteen agricultural plant sprays within the country.

The Minister made this statement during a press conference organized in Yaounde on Monday 29th September.

The choice of sixteen out of a total of twenty-seven follows from a decision last August 2014 by the 19th Session of the National Commission for the Homologation of Pesticides and the Certification of Treatment Appliances.

According to experts at the Ministry of Agriculture, Minader the sixteen sprays selected are of categories A and B with excellent and acceptable performances respectively.

Meanwhile, the rejected ones are considered of average quality.

The control measures aim at providing farmers with better agricultural machines while protecting against products emitted by low quality machines which could be dangerous to plants and man.

A director at Minader, Francis Leku Azenaku, emphasized on the clear imprint of the class and homologation numbers on each of the agricultural appliances to ease identification.

In the meantime, a press release from Minader informs operators whose sprays were not retained to remove their stocks from the market by 30th November 2014 or face severe consequences.
