The Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA), has organised an anti-rabies campaign in the Mfoundi Division of the Centre region, under the theme “Together against rabies.”
The campaign programmed to run from 28th October to 14th November, 2014 is aimed at vaccinating pets especially dogs, cats and monkeys, all vectors of the killer disease, rabies.
Since the start of the anti-rabies operation, pet owners have been streaming in at the Divisional Delegation of Livestock for the Mfoundi to get the annual vaccine.
An expert at the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Kenfack Guena noted that the turn out since the onslaught of the campaign has been impressive.
Kenfack Guena also mentioned that MINEPIA had set up fixed and mobile vaccine points at the different neighbourhoods, sub divisional offices and chiefdoms.
With eight cases of rabies already identified in the Centre region, the Ministry of Livestock is determined to stamp out the deadly disease which has no cure.
