Madagascar bus station, a space now used for parking and garage for vehicles is at the centre of a dispute.
In a meeting July 9 with the Minister of transport in Douala, leaders of trade unions who have invested in the project, requested for the official inauguration of the space.
In response, the Governor of the Littoral region, Joseph Beti Assomo, threatened to bring a legal battle against them. However the transporters, who met at Gic Transcar Interco, responsible for the management of the station, were surprised by this 'new' information.
Edouard Yetchang, Sg at the grouping of urban and inter-urban trade unions transportation stated that: "it is necessary that a delegation from our group meet with the Governor of Littoral so that he can listen to our version of the facts”.
As at now, the batch of 5391 m² on which the Madagascar bus station is located now belongs to another operator. Officials of GIC, including Mahop Mesack, Manager of the station, point an accusing finger at the Mission for the organisation and equipment of urban and rural land (Maetur), with which transactions were initiated for the acquisition of this land.
The Agency on its part refuses to recognize Transcar Interco as a client, or as an interlocutor.
