The National Gendarmerie has lost one of its finest General Officers, Major General Roland Mambou Deffo who died in a hospital in Paris following a cardiac attack.

The Inspector General of the National Gendarmerie, Major General Mambou Deffo was one of those who championed the course for safer roads in Cameroon; he was one of the key actors of the Control Surveillance Repression Road safety Campaign launched by the national gendarmerie in 2011.

Shortly after the news of his death was made public, colleagues, friends and family have since been pouring into his Yaoundé residence to condole with the immediate family.

Roland Mambou Deffo joined the Gendarmerie in 1957 and was trained in France. His brilliant carrier made progress through the different grades of the National Gendarmerie up to General. He was a highly respected notable in his native land in the West region.
