Marcie Niat launches 'Operation ICT Training'

In line with the objectives of the President of the Republic to foster self-employment among youths and also to render women in Cameroon autonomous, the wife of the Senate President, Marcie Niat, on behalf of the First Lady of Cameroon launched operation MIJEF 2035 March 13, 2015 at the school campus of the African Institute of Computer Science, IAI Cameroun-“Centre d’Excellence Technologique Paul Biya”.

Operation MIJEF 2035 is an ICTs programme geared towards the training of 1,000,000 children, youths and women in the use of ICTs by 2035.

The launching ceremony which took place in the presence of several members of government and members of the diplomatic corps was marked by the dedication of a Golden Book to commemorate the first training operation organised by IAI-Operation 100,000 women by 2012.

Just like the first programme, Operation MIJEF 2035 is taking place throughout the country with the First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya as the national matron.

The event was an occasion for beneficiaries of Operation 100,000 women by 2012 to express gratitude to Mrs Chantal Biya for spearheading such a programme which has permitted most women to go to school even at old ages and most especially find jobs.

In one voice, women in all the ten regions of the country said “Thank You” to the First Lady because they now have ICTs skills (Word and Excel) which have transformed their lives making them more capable in contributing their quota to the country’s emergence dream.

The Deputy Director of Civil Cabinet, who doubles as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM), Joseph LE, dedicated the Golden Book which marks the end of Operation 100,000 women by 2012.

Printed by SOPECAM, the book has 152 pages of information in memory of the ten-year programme which trained some 103,350 Cameroonian women in ICTs in 53 towns during 629 training sessions in the 10 regions of the country. The book cost FCFA 40,000.

Several speakers such as the Director General of IAI, Souleman Koussambe, the Representative of IAI-Cameroun, Armand Claude Abanda and the Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey, took to the rostrum not only to talk about the importance of MIJEF 2035 but also to laud the Head of State as well as his wife, Mrs Chantal Biya in supporting such a programme which will again give hope to all women and youths in becoming partners to an emerging Cameroon by 2035.

The objective of MIJEF is to build the capacities of the concerned as well as open new avenues for women and youths, so that they can participate in the drawing up of the county’s development strategies. The programme seeks to train averagely 50,000 youths and children across the country per year.
