Martial Beti Marace: Central African refugees are not "goods"

From the comments of the Ambassador of the Central African Republic in Cameroon, Martial Beti Marace reported by the privately-owned daily Emergence in its edition of June 23, 2014, the work of some NGOs in the direction of Central African refugees in Cameroon would not disinterested.

The diplomat said that some NGOs claim to speak on behalf of refugees while at the bottom they would act to their own interests, unless their action reaches the target populations.

These organizations have made Central African refugees "a commodity," denounced the Ambassador, on 20 June in Yaoundé on the occasion of the ceremony marking the end of the training of volunteers for the mission of aid and assistance to refugees and host at the East Cameroon populations.

June 20, 2014 is a day marking the celebration of world refugee day. It is precisely in the eastern region that concentrated the largest batch of Central African refugees in Cameroon: more than 70,000 on 97.116 Central African refugees identified to date by the Office of the High Commissioner for refugees.

Martial Beti Marace invited his compatriots to keep the faith and pray for the return of favorable conditions in Central Africa situation so that they can return to the native country.

The diplomat revealed that he was a refuge for 20 long years before being named Ambassador of the RCA in Cameroon. He arrived in Yaoundé on March 24, 2014 for this position.
