Maurice Kamto doubts the effectiveness of "Sparrow Hawk"

The President of the Movement for the Revival of Cameroon (MRC) believes that the people are uninformed of this crusade against corruption.

Maurice Kamto raised questions about the "Operation Sparrow hawk". Asked to evaluate its effectiveness on the airwaves of BBC Africa and Africa No. 1 Paris on Saturday, November 22, 2014, the National President of the Movement for the Revival of Cameroon (MRC) has not been enthusiastic. From the outset, he replied that he could not say if he has assessed the effectiveness of the "Operation Sparrow Hawk".

For him, there is very little information emerging from it, or not at all. "It seems to me that one of the weaknesses of "Operation Sparrow hawk" is to ignore the Cameroonian people sufficiently informed of procedures, results obtained in terms of recollection or recovery by the State property that allegedly robbed or possibly by the respondents. If there has been an evaluation, the public has not been informed," he says.

According to him, even MPs and senators are not "able to say exactly the ins and outs of the Operation Sparrow hawk outside of what the press says and what the minister of communication time to time can say also about this or that particular case." When told that the opposition does not demand accounts and are timid, the Associate law professor protested. Kamto said he does not know what legal means needed to borrow to question the government.

However, he says his party expressed its position through stances, questions to government members in the National Assembly. Maurice Kamto said the MRC hopes to table legislative proposals. It commends the work of civil society who "does what it can" and "extraordinary work" are done by the media. Maurice Kamto is not considered a "éperviable". The former minister claims that he "had an absolutely perfect situation" during his brief encounter.
