Tubah Mayor’s mandate is under scrutiny to dispel Fru Ndi’s threats on Tanjong. Sofa Stanislaus is not the Mayor of Tubah Council again. Yet, as Chronicle learnt his mandate has come under intense scrutiny. Probably as a strategy to quieten Ni John Fru Ndi, SDF Chairman who dedicated himself to be retained.

Tubah SDF councilors recently took a decision to probe into mayor Sofa’s 6 years mandate (2007-2013). Last week, Chronicle gathered that the investigations auditing ex-mayor Sofa has wrapped up their works with the report pending.

It is councilor Elias Ntangku, a senior retired state auditor who was assigned to head the commission. Within the past few weeks, the Ntangku commission, chronicle would gather information while going through the payment vouchers, building permits, council receipts/ market tickets and other outfits to come out with their findings. A dependable source at the Tubah council hinted chronicle that what had been going on was not as major surprise. Accordingly, because Ni John had “vomited” Martin Tanjong, the elected Mayor, to prove to Fru Ndi that the person he backs (Sofa) is not worth the salt.

Chronicle was hinted by a commission member that varied irregularities about financial transactions of the ex-Mayor Sofa had been done. Chronicle was merely told that irregularities had been identified in varied payment vouchers. Worse still, varied building permits were actually doubtful and unaccounted for. One of Ex-mayor Sofa’s supporters however told Chronicle that it was a game plan by Mayor Tanjong to crucify Sofa, so that he be painted as a devil and discredited in the eyes of Fru Ndi who validated him as Mayor.

Worthy to note that Sofa, who was Fru Ndi’s candidate to be retained as mayor was voted out by Tubah councilors. Instead they preferred Martin Tanjong who has served as District chairman for many years. Fru Ndi went ahead to slam 8.2(self exclusion ) on Tanjong and has since not collaborated with him. Sofa’s supporters hold that the audit is a strategy by Tanjong to discredit Sofa, so that Fru Ndi would have reason to close ranks and recognize Tanjong as SDF mayor for Tubah.
