A case pitting the Mayor of Kumba II Council, Martin Forcha Ndobegang and his neighbour, Columbus Atabong Folebe, over allegations of death threats has moved from the Central Police Station in Kumba to the Meme Legal Department as investigations unfold.

Ndobegang is accusing Folebe, his first cousin of threats to his life and safety. They are said to have had a misunderstanding over ENOE electric cables.

After interrogation by investigating police officers on Friday, November 14, both men, The Post learnt, were summoned before the State Prosecutor for Meme Division on Tuesday, November 18.

There are fears that the case may take a political twist, given that, Folebe is a CPDM militant and has Barrister Philip Awutah Atuba as Counsel.

Barrister Atuba is a militant of the CPDM party and one of those who have made known his ambition of becoming Kumba II Mayor if the ballot box and internal party politics permit him.

The Post gathered that Folebe reportedly tampered with the cables that transport current to their neighbourhood in the course of which friction developed between him and Ndobegang. In the midst of the tension, Folebe is alleged to have promised death to the new Kumba II SDF Mayor.

It is on the basis of such threat of life that Ndobegang reported the matter to the police.

Meantime, observers have been giving different interpretations to the Folebe-Ndobegang conflict. Many believe that Folebe is an ally of the political enemies of the Ndobegang, considering the circumstances through which he was voted into office.

In another twist, The Post gathered that it was in the house of Folebe that Ndobegang spent most of the nights in the wake of the tensions that erupted following his election as Mayor.

On the other hand, there are those who believe that the municipal authority could be overreacting to a misunderstanding which could have been handled at the level of the family, or their tribal meeting, given the solidarity of the Bangwas in Kumba.
