Mbonge Council burgled

The Mbonge Council in Meme Division, Southwest Region, was reportedly burgled in the night of July 31 breaking August 1.

According to a senior council official who confirmed the news to The Post but begged not to be named, the safe of the Council was later discovered in Bomboko Village, Mbonge Subdivision.

The council staff said the burglars succeeded in making away with over FCFA 3 million that was in the safe. The money, he disclosed was mainly from the sale of stamps.

The source said that the thieves might have been targeting money to pay the salaries of council staff for the month of July, but failed woefully because the money had not been transferred yet.
