The dream of Barrister Nana Robert, a senior advocate of the Cameroon Bar Association based in Douala with about 20 years in legal practice, dream has always been to become a Bar Council member the decision making organ of the Cameroon Bar.

His dreams are gradually beginning to see the light of day as lawyers in Meme Division under the canopy of Meme Lawyers Association, MELA, have given their weight behind his candidacy for the upcoming Bar elections scheduled to take place in Yaounde come January 31, 2015.

Meeting on Friday, January 9, in the presence of about 65 MELA members, Barrister Nana Robert who came to solicit for support from MELA, disclosed that, he is amongst the 60 Bar Council aspirants for the upcoming elections.

He maintained that, MELA has an important role to play in the Bar politicking, and that anyone who dreams of becoming a Bar Council Member and doesn’t pass through MELA for support is making a great mistake.

He called on MELA to stand behind him so that he can in his own little way contribute to the growth of the Cameroonian Bar and make sure that the status of lawyers are taken with much attention by the state.

He observed that, with the experience he has gathered, he will as a Bar council member assist the Bar Council President to realise his hopes and aspiration if elected.

He appealed on MELA to vote him massively when they meet in the Yaounde rendez-vous.

He boasted that he already has about 300 lawyers in Littoral, about 150 in the West, close to 500 in the Centre regions respectively, and that with the about 300 in the South West Region he already sees himself a Bar Council Member especially since Bar electioneering is all about numbers.

Talking on behalf of MELA, the president Barrister Awutah Philip Atubah disclosed that endorsing Barrister Nana is not a problem with MELA.

He opined that Barrister Nana should as he is canvassing for support understand that MELA’s candidate for the Bar Council elections, Barrister Nzoh Mbokeh Divine, incumbent Bar Council Assistant Scribe and Bar Council.

President Representative for Meme Manyu and Lebialem is equally their concern.

Barrister Awutah reminded Barrister Nana that he too should equally be canvassing for support for Barrister Mbokeh, MELA’s candidate, for election is two-way traffic. MELA’s president assured Barrister Nana of their maximum support.
