Bamenda II Subdivision, Mayor Balick Awa Fidelis
A new way forward for the emergence of Mezam Division in the North West Region has been charted out with the new Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, Songa Pierre Rene, recommending social cohesion, hard work and security as the gateway.
The SDO criss-crossed all the seven sub-divisions of Mezam from July 7-15, 2016, with messages of peace and investments that promote the local economy.
He equally stressed the need for the revival of clean-up campaigns that enhance health care, values that encourage education, civic rights and above all, vigilance and personal security in the face of threats staring the nation in the face. It was a moment to encourage the population to embrace vaccination campaigns to enhance the good health of children.
He also stressed the need for parents to ensure that children are issued birth certificates as basic children’s right. The maiden contact tour also brought the SDO face to face with the heights and depths of Mezam Division, which doubles as the seat of regional institutions.
In Bamenda II Subdivision, the Mayor, Balick Awa Fidelis, told Songa Pierre Rene that another subdivision was necessary for the area with a population of 350,000 spread out in the four major Fondoms of Mankon, Chomba, Mbatu and Nsongwa.
Bali Subdivision sounded off with the creation of a Court of First Instance, a secondary prison, a giant cassava industry in process and the appointment of sons into high decision-making positions.
Tubah Subdivision wants a double road network to link Bamenda to the State University village of Bambili. Tubah, the former headquarters of the then South-Eastern Federation of Bamenda Province, is also confronted with land disputes that require urgent attention.
