The populations of the Mfoundi Department in the way of the Yaounde-Douala Highway may approach the end of the year with serenity.
An amount of 500 million CFA francs was paid to them as compensation to victims who lost their land rights and whose properties were destroyed in the course of this project.
This is one more step taken in the process of compensation officially valued at 1.587 billion FCFA for populations on the top ten projects. This is a determined process according to Mr. Lu, an official from the China First Highway Engineering, who noted that "we cannot touch a single tree, a single plant, if the people have not received their compensation".
The Yaounde-Douala Highway will link the two most important cities of Cameroon. The work will extend over 60 months with 12 months devoted to the studies.
