The Secretary-General of La Francophonie, Michaelle Jean visited two renowned institutions in Cameroon: the Central African and Great Lakes Office of the University Agency for la Francophonie (AUF) and the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) on the last day of her official visit to Cameroon,
At the University Agency for La Francophonie, Michaelle Jean held a forum with students and researchers, before being granted audience by the Director of the institution, Prof Alain Ondoua.
She reiterated the need for the Agency to make its university network and innovative programmes more visible to the public.
The University Agency for La Francophonie offers online courses and has so far trained close to 1,200 Cameroonian students and researchers through its mobile scholarships.
Michaelle Jean’s visit to the International Relations Institute of Cameroon, IRIC was remarkable as she introduced the concept of weapons of mass construction as her vision for la Francophonie.
During the diplomatic forum, students and staff of the institution were impressed with the '3D concept of weapons of mass construction' which includes defence, diplomacy and development. She described dialogue as a weapon of mass construction.
In a world dominated by terrorism and armed conflicts which has left dreadful consequences on men, women and children, the Francophonie scribe is convinced that if governments provide the necessary defence and practice effective diplomacy, development will undoubtedly follow.
At both institutions, the Francophonie Secretary General expressed the organisation’s determination to support education and the youth.
