The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, René Emmanuel Sadi has told some international observers accredited for yesterday's September 30 local elections that Cameroon was committed to organising free and fair polls. He held separate discussions with Francophonie and African Union (AU) observers in Yaounde on September 27, 2013 as they prepared to deploy to the field to observe the twin elections.

Emmanuel Sadi first held talks with the Francophonie observers led by Pascal Couchepin. The AU Electoral Observatory Mission to Cameroon followed suit with El Hadj Issa Azizou leading. With the two delegations, the MINADT boss took time off to present practical administrative measures that have been put in place to ensure credible legislative and council polls.

Issa Azizou told the press at the end of discussions that his team was going to observe elections in the ten regions of the country. The over 40-man delegation was expected at polling stations with more stakes, especially those that had many political parties contesting. Issa Azizou noted that their duty was election observation and they were limited to that. The first point of attraction, he said, was to monitor the availability of election material which was the duty of Elections Cameroon. The second was to observe election conduct till vote counting and the last mission in Cameroon, he said, was to produce a report.
