Issa Tchiroma Bakary proceeded Wednesday with the opening of a workshop for journalists responsible for the coverage of armed conflicts.
So many questions were at the centre of the concerns for the over 40 men and women from the media gathered yesterday in Yaoundé at a workshop on the theme: "management and treatment of information in safe crisis in terms of the war against Boko Haram."
At the initiative of the FB Consulting firm, it focused on a number of aspects including sources of information, the collection and processing of information, the right of the public to be informed, the freedom and responsibility of the journalist to inform.
This work was to bring journalists to the strict respect of the ethics of the profession on the one hand, to encourage membership of the press around the fight in which Cameroon is involved against cross-border insecurity, and particularly against the Islamist sect Boko Haram.
By opening the work, the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, reminded the audience 'communication during wartime does not obey the usual guns. It is an exceptional period" he said. He called for greater responsibility on the part of the media responsible for the dissemination of such information.
"The press must understand the urgent need to question and adapt", said Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who furthermore called for the patriotic sense of some and others during this period. The Minister of Communication used this opportunity to announce the re-launch of the Commission for the issuance of the press card.
