A Cameroonian security soldier was killed and three others seriously injured in a mine explosion on Friday morning in the North of Cameroon. The explosion is said to have been caused by the fighters of the Nigerian Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
The drama occurred in an area close to the border with Nigeria. According to these sources some members of Boko Haram have been sneaking into Cameroonian territory. Despite the heavy losses in fighting with the Cameroonian army, they continue to multiply their attacks.
"They laid mines between Maltam and Fotokol. When a civilian vehicle was passing in the morning, the mine exploded. The driver of the vehicle immediately alerted the BIR who sent a team to the scene. A corporal was killed and three others were seriously wounded", reported a member of these forces to Xinhua.
Last week, a helicopter carrying a delegation led by the Chief of staff of the army, General René Claude Meka, was shot by the Islamist fighters in this locality.
It was a week after the deadly attack on 15th and 16th October at Amchide and Limani, and other communities in the northernmost border of Nigeria, during which some 225 members of the terrorist organization had been killed in the fighting with the defence and Cameroonian security forces, according to military sources in the region.
