Minedub invites students to adhere to bilingualism

Minedub invited students to adhere to bilingualism on Friday in Ebolowa, South region, as part of a special national week.

Shared between surprise and satisfaction, students from more than 60 schools of Ebolowa welcomed Youssouf Hadidja Alim, Minister of Basic Education. Her presence in the regional capital of the South, 6 February marked the highlight of a week of intellectual events in colleges and schools, to celebrate the 13th edition of the national day of bilingualism.

These young people participated in the solemn ceremony of the place des fêtes of Nko'ovos enthusiastically, with many songs, skits, and stories concocted for the occasion. Normally, February 6 each year is commemorated across the country, as the national bilingualism day.

As an arraignment, Minedub reminded the assistance made mainly by teachers and pupils, for bilingualism to become one of the pillars of unity and national integration.

For her, the theme of this 13th edition, "Bilingualism, essential tool for meeting the challenges of globalization", recalled the role played by languages in globalization. Our two official languages could be a vital tool for Cameroonians in the challenge of global change, on the triple economic, cultural and technological.

During this celebration, numerous awards and other lots were presented to teachers and deserving students of the southern region. 15 school packs were handed to the best students from each of the 29 districts in the southern region.

19 pilot schools for the promotion of teaching of science in the South have received scientific kits and over 2400 books were delivered to the regional delegate of Minedub
