Minesec Develop General Secondary Education

The Minister of Secondary Education (MINESEC), Louis Bapes Bapes, has pledged his ministry's determination to more than ever before redouble efforts to develop general secondary education in the country in 2014. Minister Bapes Bapes told the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly Wednesday night that of the FCFA 222,337 billion MINESEC is soliciting for the next fiscal year, FCFA 125 550 947 000 will be tailored towards financing the, « Development of General Secondary Education Programme, » one of the four priority programmes of the ministry for 2014.

He disclosed that this will consist in carrying out actions like reforms of general secondary education, stepping up educational provision, improving the quality of education and career guardians and counseling, consolidation of educational assistance activities and management of general secondary education institutions as well as organising general secondary education official examinations.

Other programmes include the development of technical and professional education with plans to revise education programmes, development of teacher training and institutional assistance and partnership through which the information system could be stepped up. Minister Bapes Bapes told the press after his encounter with the lawmakers that through the latter programme, MINESEC will proceed with updating the school map and the computerisation of services.

The MINESEC boss said the 2014 package represents a slight increase from that of the ongoing fiscal year which stands at FCFA 220 161 000 000 which he observed was used to lay a solid foundation for the four programmes whose execution is expected to be accelerated.
